“WHEELS FOR EDUCATION” (2005 - 2015)

Since 2005 the Loreto Program (LVAP) has given ongoing support to poor families in rural areas by providing new bicycles to students in classes from Year 4 upwards. Over this period of time LVAP has distributed over 1,000 bicycles and helmets.

In Vietnam, in many rural school environments, children do not stay at school for lunch. This means that parents have to interrupt their working hours with four journeys per day - taking their children to and from school. If children walk to school (on poor roadways accentuated with very bad environs in the Wet and Dry Seasons) there are increased complications with transport dimensions. Having a bicycle gives effortlessness and easy ‘comfort’ for the whole family. At other times, the bicycle can be used as an asset in other family circumstances.

LVAP’s “Wheels for Education” has proved to be a huge advantage for strained families and provides extra inspiration for young learners to enjoy going to school along with maintaining their enduring attendance.

When the Loreto Program has a sizeable and showable number of sponsors – there will be another ‘bike drop’ as the new School Year (2014 – 2015) approaches.

We deeply appreciate our donors for your kind donation to our "Wheels-for-education" Program over the past years:
